Published: 7/31/2026
A Finnish favorite that adapts Tex-Mex ingredients into a cozy Nordic-style casserole. Layers of tortillas, seasoned beef, and melty cheese.
Ingredients (6 servings)
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 6 flour tortillas
- 1 cup (250 ml) salsa
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
- 2 cups (200 g) shredded cheese
- Optional: 1 can black beans, drained
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Brown 1 lb ground beef with taco seasoning.
- Line the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish with flour tortillas.
- Spread half of the seasoned beef (and optional beans) over the tortillas.
- Drizzle with a mixture of salsa and heavy cream.
- Apply a generous layer of shredded cheese.
- Repeat the layering sequence until the dish is full.
- Bake for 20 minutes until the top is browned and bubbly.
Pro Tips
- Block Cheese: Opt for cheese in block form rather than pre-crumbled. Anti-caking agents in pre-crumbled cheese inhibit smooth melting; block cheese melts significantly creamier.
